The number of Syrian civilians who have fled their country to escape conflict has passed the 1.5 million mark, according to an announcement made by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) on the 17th of May. The refugee influx continues on a daily basis and is worsening an already precarious situation, on top of particularly difficult weather conditions.
ACTED teams have been mobilised since the beginning of the conflict, alongside international and local humanitarian actors in Northern Jordan and in Kurdistan to help refugee and host populations. ACTED is currently providing WASH services and non-food items (NFIs) for the refugees hosted in Zaatari camp, Jordan as well as for refugee families hosted in communities in Northern Jordan. ACTED has also conducted NFI distributions for refugees in Al Qaim camp in Iraq and is providing psychosocial and protection services for Syrian children and youth in Domiz Camp, Kurdistan.
