KUTUM (14 Jan.) - Two members of a militia killed two men in Kassab camp for the displaced in Kutum locality, North Darfur on Monday evening.

An activist in Kassab camp told Radio Dabanga that two government-backed militia members riding on camels opened fire on a shop at about 6pm on Monday. The blind Abdulah Adam was present inside the shop, located in block A of the camp. His uncle Mohamed Ali Nazhan hurried to the scene for his rescue. The militiamen shot him as well, killing both Adam and Nazhan.

The gunmen then looted Adam's shop, the activist told, and escaped the Kassab camp while firing dense shots in the air and toward a football match in one of the playgrounds nearby. The players and the public fled to the headquarters of the Sudanese army.

Army forces “exchanged fire with the gunmen”, the activist reported, “but did not manage to arrest them.”
