October developments

  • 18,687 individuals were assisted by UNHCR in primary health care (PHC) centres through IMC, Amel Association, IOCC and PU-AMI.

  • 3,079 patients were supported with clinical and psycho-social consultations for mental health conditions by UNHCR through IMC and Restart.

  • Some 15,000 children were vaccinated for measles, polio and vitamin A by UNICEF at UNHCR’s registration centres in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health.

  • UNHCR’s network of referral hospitals with reduced-cost access for refugees increased by 3 to a total of 32.

  • 2,812 patients were assisted by UNHCR with secondary and tertiary health care through IMC and CMLC.

  • A pilot initiative to audit medical and financial records of secondary and tertiary health care procedures was launched in Beirut and Mount Lebanon.

  • The number of health outreach workers drawn from refugee and Lebanese host communities has been upscaled country-wide to better support refugees upon hospital admission and improve follow-up after discharge.

  • Health education sessions continue to be scaled up targeting Syrian refugees and well as Lebanese host communities.

  • UNHCR continued to work with partners to harmonize data collection, reporting and continuity of care including patient follow up. Training on screening and treatment for PHC centre staff continued with the support of UNICEF through IOCC.
