SITUATION
• LEHAR, in the morning of 28 Nov, was reaching the coast of Andhra Pradesh, significantly weakened. On 28 Nov at 06:00 UTC it had a max. sustained wind speed of 64 km/h and its centre was located over central-western Bay of Bengal, approx. 180 km south-east of Bapatla (Guntur district), Coastal Andhra Pradesh. It was moving north-west, towards Bapatla, weakening further.
• According to the data of 28 Nov 06:00 UTC, it was expected to cross the coastal area between north Prakasam and southern Krishna districts on 28 Nov morning, further weakened. Minor damage was expected in the landfall area (IMD). Then it would move inland weakening.
• Rainfall (isolated heavy rainfall) could affect Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam district of Puducherry on 28-29 Nov. Isolated heavy rainfall may also affect north-western Andhra Pradesh on 29 Nov.
• According to media (as of early 28 Nov), 27 000 people had been evacuated by 27 Nov in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
• One ECHO TA was deployed as of 27 NOV in Andhra Pradesh to coordinate with Partners in view of rapid assessments to be carried out.
